Dr Paul O. Adekola is an emerging and focused young scholar with backgrounds in Geography, Demography, and Social Statistics. His core research interests span migration, Population, health and environment, sexual and reproductive health, post-conflict and disaster socioeconomic recovery for vulnerable populations, and quantitative and qualitative analyses, among others. With twelve years of unbroken commitment to teaching, research, and administration at Nigerian universities, Dr Adekola has established himself as an emerging early career researcher with huge talent and potential to make an impact in his research areas. His academic journey has been enriched by research fellowships in Portugal, Ghana and Switzerland, broadening his perspective and enhancing his scholarly pursuits. Dr Adekola’s dedication to advancing knowledge is evident through his growing publication record. He has published 35 scientific articles in esteemed international peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, he has authored a motivational book titled "The Power of Choice," showcasing his passion for influencing the youth to make positive decisions as they grow. Dr Adekola is deeply passionate about migrants, particularly displaced persons, refugees, and other vulnerable populations. He has demonstrated leadership in humanitarian efforts, conducting field training on post-disaster sustainability, economic independence, and skills development among displaced persons in post-conflict contexts, notably in North-East Nigeria. His academic contributions are further underscored by his role as a regular reviewer for reputable peer-reviewed journals with credible indexing. Dr Adekola’s academic journey has been enriched by fully sponsored attendance at conferences and workshops in some African countries, Europe, Asia and Australia, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange on global platforms. Dr Adekola has won competitive and prestigious scholarships, including the Commonwealth Fellowship, Coimbra Scholarship, and the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, which have enabled him to pursue postdoctoral research at the renowned University of Geneva. He is a member of relevant professional organisations such as IUSSP, UAPS, ANG, and PAA, which underscores his commitment to advancing scholarly discourse in population studies. As a member and volunteer at MHADRI, Dr Adekola actively contributes to evidence-informed global migration health policies and practices, aligning with his advocacy for the well-being of migrant communities.
